Aklan’s Tourism Frontliners Completed The 15-Day
Basic Chinese Mandarin Language Training By DOT

A total of twenty-four (24) Aklanon tourism service providers and frontliners have completed the 15-Day Basic Chinese Mandarin Language Training held April 16 to May 11, 2018 at the former Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, Kalibo, Aklan sponsored by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6, West Visayas State University (WVSU) Center For Foreign Languages in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office. A skills enhancement initiative funded by DOT, the training aims to enhance tourism competitiveness, increase employment in the tourism sector, and improve the overall skills of tourism frontliners in Aklan as a tourism destination province.

The participants include representatives from hotel accommodation, transport operators, tour guides, airport and jetty ports, and schools offering tourism courses who were awarded Certificates of Training assisted by Provincial Tourism Officer Roselle Q. Ruiz, WVSU Course Facilitator Mr. Zhi Wei Xie Tan and WVSU Center For Foreign Languages Director Prof. Sharon F. Quimpo. The participants expressed gratitude to the program organizers for offering such kind of an opportunity for their career as well as for personal advancement as tourism service providers. By Niña T.
