The Aklan Provincial Government through the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office partnered with the province’s identified culinary sellers, accredited farm-tourism sites, and travel and tour operator to join the upcoming KAIN NA! CULINARY AND TRAVEL FESTIVAL 2019 on December 6 – 8, 2019. The festival is sponsored by the Department Of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Agriculture Region VI and Ayala Malls. The 3-day event is held in the Shops by Atria (Ayala) in Iloilo City and also participated in by the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras and Iloilo. It highlights Western Visayas as a culinary tourism destination that can offer indigenous ingredients and dishes prepared by local chefs, farm tourism sites and their products, and local cultural performances.
There will be a Cooking Competition, Parade of the Province Iconic Dishes and Delicacies, Food Sampling or Degustacion, Cultural or Festival Presentation, Product Presentation, Culinary and Farm Tourism Talk, and Panel Discussion on the latest trends on Culinary and Farm Tourism. December 8, 2019 was chosen to showcase the PROVINCE OF AKLAN.
The province will showcase it’s iconic dish which is “inubarang manok”, Kalibo’s longganisa and local delicacies by Rosa Foods, Jocyl’s Food Products, Amazing Food Graces, Baligyaan, Trims, John and Nelfa’s Crispy Shrimps, Solanoy’s Pasalubong, and Ampaw de Lezo for the Cooking Demo and Degustacion, and Farm-tourism Sites in Banga and Balete, the Meliton Integrated Organic Farm and Bullo Hillside Integrated Farm. There will also be a Product Presentation and Mixing Demo of locally- processed liquors or spirits by Destileria Barako, and cultural presentation entitled “A Glimpse of Aklan” will be staged by the Tumandok It Akean Performing Arts Guild of the Aklan Culture and Arts Foundation, Inc.
